December 2021 Newsletter

To all our lovely parents at Banana Moon the children will be focusing on Christmas, Kwanza and Hanukkah. The children will have a wonderful time joining all their friends for the Christmas lunch on Friday 10th December, party and play. The children will learn about Christmas from around the world and how others celebrate the festive season.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and festive season and a very Happy New Year. It has been a pleasure caring for your children throughout 2021. With the New Year approaching fast we are excited to see what it has in store for all of us. We are making some exciting plans for the children in 2022. We are looking forward to seeing you all in January. Merry Christmas filled with peace, love and happiness and a Happy New Year!

Baby Moons
In the Baby Moons room we have been busy making changes and developing the room to cater for our younger children. We have had fresh new soft carpet fitted as an extra safety precaution for our newly mobile babies. We have also purchased some new sensory activities for the children which they are greatly enjoying. These are the new water mats and sensory bags and bottles in addition to our previous ones. The older children have been exploring colour through the use of various mark making tools and large rolls of paper on the floor.

Teenies/Mini Moons
In the Teenies/Mini Moons room the children have been investigating and exploring ‘Numbers’ whilst developing their understanding of ‘Maths- Shapes, Space and Measure’. The children have participated in doing both simple and complex puzzles, whilst developing their fine manipulative skills to manipulate and slot in the puzzle pieces. The children have enjoyed exploring and playing in our ‘Banana Moon Supermarket’ where they have role-played being a shop keeper, a chef and servers in the kitchenettes. The children have developed an interest in doing their peers and teachers hair. We have introduced the children to the concept of “hairdressers” and they have really enjoyed exploring hair accessories and learning about the various types of hair. Lastly, the children enjoy developing their physical skills doing a range of activities outside such as playing hockey, tennis and running games.

Full Moons
The Full Moons have been very busy last month; they have done many messy play activities about autumn. The children have had the opportunity to explore different textures, play outdoors exploring leaves and participating in lots of painting opportunities using colours of autumn. They also created poppies using their handprints, painting fireworks and exploring light. The children continue to choose their own reading books that they would like to take home with them weekly. Parents, please remember to add comments in the yellow reading records. 😊
